Rochester: October 2, 2012. Rochester: Age 89, born September 5, 1923 in White Plains, NY. She was the daughter of Marion and Earl Pierce.   She was predeceased by her husband of almost 59 years, Edward C. Avery.   She is survived by four sons, Bruce (Margaret), Robert (Karen), Douglas (Susan), and David, and one daughter, Peggy (David Leach), 10 grandchildren, Sarah (Daniel Davis), Prudence (Zachary Upton - deceased), Alexis (Todd Stubbe), Marisa Avery (Kimberley Prinsen), Anthony Ferraro (Kristin Mount), Mark Ferraro, Daniel Ferraro, Carolyn Avery, Elizabeth Avery, and Ian Steele-Avery, and six great grandchildren, Katherine and Zoe Upton, Gareth and Conrad Avery-Davis, Siobhan Stubbe, and Avery McCourt.

Mrs. Avery loved teaching music in the town of Forestport, NY, (Forestport Central School) and in Rochester, NY, serving at #15, #35, and #17 schools.   Since her retirement she was one of the founding members of the Atheneum at RIT, was an avid photographer active in Camera Rochester, and was an active and honorary Secretary of the Federation of German-American Societies.   She sang in the Rochester Sänger Chor.   She was a long time member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.   She was a member of the mermaids, a group of women who swam together for years at Valley Manor.

Marion's memorial service will be held FRIDAY 11:00am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.   Interment private.   Memorials should go to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Strong Children's Fund, U of R, Office of Gift and Donor Records, PO Box 270032, Rochester, NY 14627-003.

Rochester: April 19, 2012.   Kurt is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; children, Rebecca (Donald) Geihs-Coe, & Eric (Paula) Geihs; grandson, Steven Crist; granddaughter, Katie (Tony) Bargeron; 2 great grandchildren, Ryan & Jacob; cousins, Arnold (Madelyn) Monno; god daughter, Nancy Duffy, also nieces & nephew, William Geihs; & many relatives in Germany.   Kurt was a WWII Army veteran & Rochester Fire Department retiree (Engine 12).   He & his wife Elizabeth are former members of the German Dance Group S.V. Heidengold, Rochester International Folk Dancers.

Lehner, Edith M. Spencerport: Tuesday October 06, 2009. Age 74.   She was predeceased by her parents, Adolf and Julie Kumpfel; brothers, Reinhart and Wence Kumpfel; Edith is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years and best friend Alfred Lehner.   She is survived by her children, Linda (Jeff) Neal, Eric (Maria Carvalho) Lehner; her grandchildren, Zachary and Lauren Neal, Stephanie Carvalho and Jacqueline Carvalho Lehner; siblings, Leni Hammerl, Hans and Bernhard Kumpfel and Nora Bauer.

Deceased Harold W. Tausch

Tausch, Harold W. Webster: May 21, 2009. "So ein Tag" "Such a beautiful day."   This was Harold's wonderful outlook on life. Born July 15, 1927.   He was predeceased by his parents, Christian & Emilia. Survived by his wife, Elvira (Mauch); sons, Erich (Anne), Kurt, Karl (Amy); step-children, Sandra Sweeney, Peter Sweeney, Christina (Ed) Brown; 12 grandchildren.   Harold embraced life, he also had a lifelong love of music.   He was a German-American choral director for 50 years. He also was a longtime accordion player and leader of the Royal Bavarians. Beside music, Harold was passionate about soccer and was a founding member of the Rochester Lancers.   Harold was devotedly proud of his German heritage and will be missed by all who knew him in various German-American societies.   Until we meet again, Auf Wiedersehen.

He served as Past AGL for the 2nd Monroe District, as Grand Representative of North Carolina for the Grand Lodge of NYS, & was Patron for Rochester Chapter No 314, O.E.S. West Irondequoit: Frederick C. Hunte, 81, founder of Omega Consolidated Corp. of Hilton, died peacefully at his home Sun. Mar. 16, 2008.   He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ursula Hunte; their children Martin (Lynn) Hunte, Thomas Hunte, Robert Hunte, Ronald (Meryl) Hunte, and Judy (Dan) Meacham.   He will be missed by his 11 grandchildren: Brian, Diana, Laura, Lisa, Sarah, Ari, Jenna, Noah, Zachary, Matthew, and Nathan.   He also leaves: two sisters, Ursula Sommer (Germany), and Marlis Spada; niece, Diane Spada; and many other relatives in Germany.

Frederick was a member of the Rochester Chapter of the Steuben Society of America, where he was Chairman of the Scholarship Comittee.

His friends and family are invited to a memorial service in celebration of his life, at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4301 Mt. Read Blvd. on Saturday, March 22, at 1:00 pm. January 17, 2007 Karl was the oldest member of the Rochester Schwaben Verein, and on May 3 he would have been 98 years old.   He was a member for 72 years, and was an Honorary member.

March 7, 2006. Legendary Finger Lakes vintner Willy Frank died of a stroke Tuesday night. Frank was 80. Frank was chief executive of Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellar in Hammondsport, Steuben County. His father, Konstantin Frank, was the first vintner to grow European-style vinifera grapes in New York state. Willy Frank was credited with marketing the wines. Frank died in his sleep in Naples, Fla. He was on a business trip trying to get more distribution for the company's wines, said Frederick Frank, Willy's son and president of the winery. More>>

Deceased Oswald, Bill


Dear Friends, we apologize for sending information by e-mail but felt it might be the best way to get in touch with you all. Some of you may already heard the news but offically Bill Oswald passed away this morning at 8:40. He did not recover from the stroke he experienced last Saturday.

His passing was peaceful and all three of us boys were with our Mom when she got the news. Viewing will be on Wednesday from 3-7 at Miller Funeral home on the corner of Jefferson and Winton Rd. The funeral mass will be on Thursday evening at RIT.

If you could pass the word along to those we may have missed. Our Mom is doing well and feeling good that he did not suffer or have a prolonged illness.
